The Consignment Process
1. Initial Evaluation
The first step is to tell us what you have. Fill out our online form with a brief description and attach a few photos (group shots are fine for start).
- Pre-Auction Estimate: We will provide an estimate of what your items might bring at auction based on current market trends and past sales history.
2. Documentation & Safety
Once we accept your items, we provide a clear consignment contract.
- Full Insurance: Your property is fully insured while in our care and custody at our gallery.
- Provenance: If your items have a unique history or belonged to a notable family, please let us know. Documented history often leads to much higher bid prices.
3. Expert Marketing
We prefer to receive items 2 to 3 months before an auction. This gives our experts time to:
- Conduct thorough research and professional photography.
- List your items on HiBid, reaching thousands of registered collectors globally.
- Feature your collection in targeted advertisements and estate periodicals.
4. Getting Your Items to Us
- In-Person Delivery: You can drop off your items at our Winchester, VA gallery by appointment.
- Shipping: Please contact us before shipping so we can guide you on safe packaging.
- Professional Pickup: For large estates or bulky items, we offer a professional packing and pickup service. Ask us for a quote.
5. Consignor Settlement (Payment)
We ensure you get paid promptly.
- 30-Day Payment: You will receive a guaranteed settlement check and a detailed itemized report within 30 days of the auction’s completion.
- Transparency: Your statement will clearly show the hammer price for each item sold and the agreed commission.
