Buying and After Auction
Winning at Headley’s Auctions is an exciting experience! Whether you are a first-time bidder or a long-time collector, here is everything you need to know about the process after the hammer falls.
1. Receiving Your Invoice
- Timeline: You will receive your official invoice via email within 1-2 business days after the auction concludes.
- Method: Most invoices are sent via email (check your SPAM folder!). If we do not have an email on file, we will contact you by telephone.
- Important: If you believe you won but haven’t received an invoice by Tuesday afternoon following a weekend sale, please [Contact Us].
2. Confirming Your Purchase
Once you receive your invoice, please reply to the email or call us at 540-662-6350 to confirm receipt and discuss payment/pickup.
Pro Tip: Do not use the messaging system on HiBid to confirm; direct email or phone is the fastest way to reach us.
3. Payment Methods
Payment is due within 5 days of the auction. We accept:
- Cash or Check (Preferred)
- Money Order
- Credit Cards (Visa/MasterCard) – Please note that a higher Buyer’s Premium may apply for credit card transactions.
- Wire Transfers – Subject to additional bank fees.
- Note: We do not accept PayPal.
4. Shipping & Pickups
- Local Pickup: We love meeting our bidders! You can pick up your items at our designated location (Clarke County Fairgrounds or our Gallery) during the scheduled pickup window.
- Shipping: Initial invoices do not include shipping charges.
- After you pay for your items, we will help coordinate shipping.
- We typically work with local UPS Stores for professional packing and shipping. We will transport your items to the shipper at no additional charge once payment is cleared.
- Shipping costs are paid separately and directly to the shipper once they have packed your items and determined the final cost.
5. Past Auction Results
Want to see what an item sold for? Our online catalogs on HiBid are updated with realized prices shortly after each auction. You can find these under the “Past Auctions” tab on our website.
